HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A TOURNAMENT?
If I know the course, I'll practice the shots that give me more trouble specific to the course. For example, if the course has a lot of elevation changes near the baskets, I'll pay particular attention to practicing elevated putts.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE TOURNAMENTS?
1. Glass Blown Open
2. The Vibram Open
3. Beloit, KS (KDGA Summer Event)
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 FAVORITE COURSES?
1. Jones East (Emporia, KS)
2. Maple Hill (At the Vibram Open)
3. Frontier Park (Hays, KS)
PERSONAL DISC GOLF GOALS: I would like to win a major in open after reaching age 50.
ROLE MODELS/INFLUENCES:
At my first PDGA tournament, I got to watch "Crazy" John Brooks give a class on disc golf play to the open field...so impressive! The other large influence in my professional development was Mitch McClellan. He was the best Open player in my area and continues to be the winningest player in the history of disc golf. When I could successfully compete with him, I knew I could play with anyone.
ADVICE: Play within your limits. Keep the bulk of your throws at 75% power and focus on controlling and shaping the flight. This strategy will really reduce the waste strokes caused by ending up without a shot on your follow-up.
