My Dynamic Discs Story:
Coming to work for Dynamic Discs is a story that could not be scripted if I tried. Like most, I first discovered Dynamic Discs through player packs my son got at local tournaments when he first started playing competitively in late 2020.
In 2021, my son was one of six winners of the Foundation Disc Golf Junior Grant. That award helped my Junior player play at Junior Worlds for the first time and enjoy a life-changing experience in Emporia we will always treasure. Part of his Junior Grant package included a private warehouse tour with a Dynamic Discs pro. Unfortunately, one was not available, so we toured the under-construction warehouse with Doug Bjerkaas instead. At the time, Dynamic Discs had a job opening that sounded like a potentially-good fit, except it required relocating to Emporia, which my family of four could not do. While I left headquarters that day a bit deflated, I was not discouraged. I knew that, in some way, shape, or form, I would find a way to enter the disc golf industry.
In the fall of 2021, while working on my son’s personal brand on social media, I learned of (and followed) Fabian Olarte’s incredible journey from Mexico to Kansas en route to becoming DD’s first International Marketing Director (now Content Director). That was inspiring, fun to watch unfold on Twitter, and a preview of coming attractions, as my road to DD would follow a similar path.
In April 2022, a tweet popped up on my son’s Twitter feed—Dynamic Discs was looking for a Social Media Expert who loves disc golf to become its first-ever fully-remote employee....and being bilingual would be a plus. After two years of living, breathing, playing, and posting about disc golf on social media for a Junior with MPO dreams—and with over a decade of experience in bilingual marketing, content, and communications—responding to the tweet was a no-brainer. The virtual meeting interview process could not go smoother, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’m a firm believer that "luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," and I could not imagine a more perfect opportunity to enter this beautiful industry with a game-changing brand like DD. As Dynamic Discs positions itself to continue enriching lives through disc golf not only in the U.S. but in Latin America as well, I’m prepared and excited to start my journey in disc golf with the amazing people at Dynamic Discs....from wherever the game and reliable Wi-Fi connections lead me.
See you on social!
