Great disc no matter what level player.
I’ll preface this by saying I do have a sense of sentimentality towards this disc. The Hatchet is an excellent beginner’s driver. It also bombs. For beginners or those with slower arm speeds, this disc can easily fill the slot of a distance driver. This was the first driver that worked for me starting out with disc golf. For intermediate players in the standard premium plastics it honestly may be too understable, but if you have touch if you need dead straight shots to go long and flip over, or even a roller, it is good for that. I revisited this disc but with a Hybrid X plastic and it flies even better than I remember but with better torque resistance and ends up playing like an Undertaker or the new CD1.
Just what I needed to improve my game.
This was the first disc that I bought for myself. I'm a right-handed forehander and never was able to figure the disc out. With that being said, I gave this disc to a friend and they throw backhand. It has become their go to disc. It flies straight for them and they love it. Even though I could not throw it well, it is still a great disc for your bag!
I'm an older/kinda newish player, and I was looking for something I could get some distance with, even with a not-so powerful arm. After speaking with Melany, I chose a VIP Air Hatchet. What a wonderful choice, I can't begin to thank her enough for helping me choose what has become my go-to driver for most situations! If you're comfortable with an Underworld, you'll feel right at home with the Hatchet, and the VIP Air made me drive farther, faster than my learning curve! Great disc, great people, you can't go wrong, imho, with the Vip Air Westside Discs Hatchet! Thanks DD!
