My Dynamic Discs Story:
I started playing disc golf like many others with friends on a very casual level in 2008. This turned into friendly competitions and after some time, I began working harder to improve my game. I soon met players like Ajax Esquivel, Robert Johnson, and Bradley Crow who turned me onto the tournament scene. This allowed me to meet many more competitive disc golfers and I soon found my love for disc golf. At the time I was a managing-partner of a Sonic Drive-In in Denton, TX. This allowed me more freedom to take off weekends for tournaments. In 2010, I purchased my PDGA membership and began planning when and where I wanted to play. I was told Dynamic Discs was the best place to start if I wanted to compete in well-run events. The DD crew soon knew of me by name after playing many of their events in such a short time-frame. I was approached by Jeremy Kindy at the end of 2010 about the possibility of me sponsoring DD events through my connections with Sonic. I eagerly said yes and the rest is pretty much history. After connecting with Kindy, I began providing ice, water, coupons, and anything else that could help boost each event. Soon after, I was approached by Jeremy Rusco by the end of the 2011 season. This involved funding and opening a Dynamic Discs pro shop in Lewisville, TX as well as taking a fully stocked RV on a ride around the country to promote Dynamic Discs. Many daily conversations were had between Rusco and myself as I knew this would change my life and my career. Rusco eventually made this "dream job" sound like a no-brainer so naturally I researched as many calculated risks as possible before giving him my life-altering decision. I began working for Dynamic Discs on May 6 of 2012. The Chasin' the Chains RV was my home on the road from that moment until the end of 2014. In that time, I was able to see and do more than I could have ever imagined. Attending multiple NT's and World Championships, creating life-long friendships, and seeing parts of the country I had no idea existed fell into my lap as I drove tens of thousands of miles in those short years. In December of 2014, Jeremy Rusco and I decided it was time for me to focus on my investment in Texas. Bradley Crow had single-handedly been running operations at Dynamic Discs Lewisville since it opened its doors on July 6, 2012. This was definitely not the model I had intended on using while running/owning my own business, but we made it work to the best of our abilities. I made the decision to hire Bradley to manage the first Dynamic Discs franchise based on his work ethics and knowledge of disc golf. It has been interesting and successful to say the least, but it has proven to be challenging and ever changing along the way. Bradley and I overcame many hurdles in the first 4 years of business. I was out on the road and Bradley was in Lewisville taking care of the business the majority of that time. To say the least, both of us have had days where we have no idea what our next hurdle may be. At the end of 2015, many areas across the country experienced flooding and Texas was no different. Lake Park DGC was about half a mile or so from Dynamic Discs Lewisville and much of our business thrived on the traffic going to and from the course. When the floods hit, we were forced to make a very difficult decision: stay in Lewisville and wait it out or move to a more lucrative area. We decided to shop for suite spaces closer to Dallas. We closed our doors at Dynamic Discs Lewisville on January 18, 2016 and reopened as Dynamic Discs Carrollton on January 22, 2016. Since the move, Dynamic Discs Carrollton is in a much better position to focus on the exciting road ahead and continuing to grow disc golf in the great State of Texas. I couldn't be happier with the crew at Dynamic Discs Carrollton and I look forward to many more years with them.
