Disc Golf, a Carnival Atmosphere, and Kids Who Need Our Help

Some tournaments are about winning. Some are about something else entirely.

Recently, Dynamic Discs partnered with Emporia Walmart, hosted the Children's Miracle Network Fundraiser Doubles presented by Dynamic Discs and Walmart. Twenty holes of best shot doubles, with a twist at every single tee pad. Pool floaties, butterfly nets, Plinko, a wheel that decided your throwing fate, and clown outfits. If it sounds more like a carnival than a disc golf tournament, that was exactly the point.

The event was born out of a conversation between Mick Schroeder, Store Manager at Walmart Emporia, and Jackie Morris, Tournament Director at Dynamic Discs. Walmart has run a Children's Miracle Network campaign every June across all of their stores for years. Mick wanted to do something different in Emporia. Something that would get people talking. Something fun. He reached out to Jackie, and together they built something worth showing up for.

This was year two.

Every dollar raised stays local. Funds go directly to children in the Kansas area who need medical care, helping families cover costs that insurance does not always reach. When you buy in to play a round where you might have to throw blindfolded or wear a pool floatie, you are doing more than having a good time. You are helping a kid get the care they need close to home.

The players who showed up knew that. When we asked them why they came out, the answers were simple and honest. "It's for the kids, truly." "It's a rare occasion. You have to take it when you get it." Nobody was there to grind out a competitive round. They were there because disc golf is at its best when it is about more than the sport.

That is something we believe at Dynamic Discs. This disc golf community has always been generous, welcoming, and willing to show up for one another. Events like this one are proof of that. We are proud to be part of it alongside Walmart Emporia and everyone who came out to play.

Year two down. More to come.
